PLANT TYPE:

This is a hardy, medium sized, perennial thorny tree or shrub that can grow up to 5-12 meters. Leaves are small oval shaped 2-6 cm long, glossy green, featuring three distinct prominent vertical veins running from the base. They are drought resistant, heat tolerant and exceptionally resilient. The leaves have a fresh aroma and a slightly tangy bitter taste.

SEASONS:

It thrives best in warm, airy and dry tropical climates with temperature ranges between 20-40°C. Usually planted at the rainy season July to September to form the base rooting. The tree flowers during the monsoon and the fruits ripen primarily during the winter and early spring months.

SOIL TYPE:

High utility growth occurs in sandy loam or well drained calcareous soils. It can survive in poor, infertile, gravelly and even moderately alkaline or slightly saline soils where other plants fails, Tolerates a wide soil pH levels ranging from 6 to 8.5. 

TRADITIONAL VALUES:

The leaves have profound therapeutic uses in home and remedies and native medicine systems. The leaves mixed with pepper and garlic is consumed to regulate menstrual disorders. relieve severe period cramps, and cleanse the uterus. It helps the scalps to eliminate dandruff, treat premature greying, and remedy localized hair loss patches. Drinking the leaf juice or rubbing the juice onto the palms and soles helps manage hyperhidrosis - abundant sweating. The cooling nature of crushed leaves, placed topically on boils, skin rashes and swollen joints helps to decrease inflammation and pain. Decoctions or tea made out of the leaves help to treat common fever and enhance overall body immunity.
